Privacy policy

Effective: October 26, 2026

Cranklet is an indoor cycling app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, made by Willow and The Wren, LLC. This policy covers the app and this website.

The short version

Cranklet has no account, no sign-up, no server, no ads and no analytics. It sends nothing to us or to anyone else. Your rides stay on your device. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we do not track you.

What we collect

Nothing. We have no server, so there is nowhere for your information to go.

Your rides

Your rides, workouts, routes and rider settings, such as your FTP, weight and heart rate limits, are stored on your device.

  • Where your files go. You choose where Cranklet keeps rides, workouts and routes: on this device, in iCloud Drive, or in a folder you pick. In iCloud Drive they sync between your devices through your own iCloud account, and your rider settings sync the same way. Apple handles this under Apple's privacy policy. We cannot see it.
  • A folder you choose. If you pick a folder, Cranklet reads and writes only that folder. If the folder is in another sync service, that service's policy applies.
  • Paired devices. The trainer and sensors you pair are remembered on each device, and never sync.

Health data

On iPhone and iPad, Cranklet uses Apple Health only after you turn it on in the app. It is off by default. The Mac has no Apple Health.

  • What it writes. Each ride you finish, as an indoor cycling workout, with heart rate, power, cadence, speed, distance and energy, and the route map when you rode a route.
  • What it reads. Nothing. Cranklet asks only to write.

Health data stays on your device. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared. Cranklet changes or deletes only the workouts it wrote. You can turn this off in Cranklet's settings, or remove access in the Health app, at any time.

Bluetooth

Cranklet uses Bluetooth only to find, control and read your smart trainer, and to read a heart rate monitor and a cadence sensor you pair. It connects to nothing else, and it never uses Bluetooth to find your location.

Files

When you import a workout or a route file, such as a ZWO, GPX, TCX or FIT file, Cranklet reads it on your device. When you share a ride as a FIT file, the file goes only where you send or save it.

Maps

On a route, Cranklet shows the route on Apple Maps. Loading the map tiles is a request to Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. Cranklet never reads your location. The map shows the route from the file, not where you are.

Permissions

The app asks for access only when you use a feature that needs it: Bluetooth for your trainer and sensors; Apple Health to save your rides; and notifications, so a workout can tell you when it is done while you are in another app. You can turn any of these off in your device's settings.

This website

cranklet.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no files from other websites. Cloudflare hosts the site. Like every web host, it sees the address of each page it sends and the IP address of the device that asks for it.

Children

Cranklet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The app collects no information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete a ride, workout or route in the app, or delete the app, and that data is gone from that device. If you chose iCloud Drive, remove Cranklet's folder in iCloud Drive, and remove its settings in your iCloud settings. Remove the workouts Cranklet wrote in the Health app. We hold no copy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
